This foundation course will equip you with the key theory and essential skills to feel confident in understanding wetland management charactertistcs and strategies. This course will bring together expert knowledge and experience from across the world, delivered in an engaging and varied way.
This course if for those who are new to working in a wetlands related role, or may have little theoretical education in wetland management.
This course will run with a cohort of 15 peers from across the world.
For each module, participants will watch recorded videos and attend a two hour session, with lectures and group discussion. Students will have an additional 1-2 hours of self study per week using videos and short texts.
Identify and explain key forms of wetland management practice specific to wetlands of a particular nature and location
Outline and explain relevant programmes, policies or agreements (e.g. CEPA) specific to wetland management and how these ideals support the future of wetlands
Discuss and evaluate the ecological functions of named wetlands, including information on wetland biodiversity
Critically analyse future issues relating to wetlands within the scope of human, biodiversity and environmental needs
Undergraduate degree
At least 1 year of work experience in conservation related field
